Reliance’s E-Commerce Venture JioMart goes live with their service on WhatsApp in Mumbai’s Thane, Kalyan and Navi Mumbai areas on 27th April 2020.
A few days back Mukesh Ambani made a commercial blast in the market after signing a $5.7 billion investment deal with Facebook.
During this covid-19 pandemic situation across the country lets say around the world, the headline shook the business industry, and with that Mukesh Ambani tops the rank of the Richest man in Asia.
JioMart was introduced on 20th January this year and now partnering with Whatsapp, a Facebook-owned, means Jiomart has gained direct access and reach to the messaging application’s user base of over 400 million.
JioMart will surely target the mass with its business model in a short time interval. It’s sure many E-commerce platforms like Amazon and Flipkart will face a challenge on the efficiency of their business model. Small merchants and Kirana shops will be in profit from this business model of Reliance Retail. We can see this new Whatsapp order booking service is a great advantage for both the users and the Kirana stores during this lockdown period.
The process is simple and anyone can go for ordering the products from the catalog using the link on their WhatsApp number. The users just need to add the JioMart’s number on the phones in said areas of service. As of now, JioMart stated that the consumer will have to head to the nearest Kirana store to pick up their delivery. But maybe afterward they will start to deliver at the user mentioned location as well.
We all know how Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited dominated the telecom war in 2016 and became number 1 with a user base of 370 million by last year. Reliance’s E-Commerce Venture JioMart business model is named to be an O2O model which is the online-to-offline marketplace model. Moreover, the Chinese E-commerce giant Alibaba group holdings Ltd is the present colonist of E-Commerce retail in the whole world. Is this the next move by the Reliance with this new E-Commerce venture, JioMart. Now we will see in the years to come whether Reliance Retail can similarly dominate this area as well or not.
